Subject	would engine heat melt the speaker wire insulation?

Message	or more of a question, has anyone had any issues of the insulation melting from either high amperage or engine bay heat? I'm being cheap, yes, but that's cause I have TONS of good quality, thick speaker wire that nobody in the house would ever use and I'd like to rewire a few things in the engine bay. Obviously the answer is to go buy some electrical wire, but at $15/roll per colour, this free weekend project can turn into a $60+ project, but at the same time, I don't want to set my car on fire.
